curlew in the mist for solo shakuhachi was commissioned by Belinda Webster for performance by Riley Lee and first performed by him in Sydney, January 1994. It was sketched in Connemara in September 1993 and completed in London the following month.
Silver soft across the bay,
echoing hard, from Cloch na Ron,
a curlew calls in the mist.
