Founded in 1969 by cellist David Wells and pianist Janet Wells, the venue has twice been awarded the ASCAP/Chamber Music America Award for Adventurous Programming, and has a commitment to lifelong education for musicians, as well as programming that focuses listeners in new ways. During the residency, several of Paredes' works will be programmed, including Papalote (full list to be announced soon), and the main event will be two performances on July 30th & 31st of her chamber opera: Harriet, Scenes from the Life of Harriet Tubman.
More information about the venue can be found here, and detail on the programmes can be found here. See UYMP performances for a full list of events featuring Paredes' works.
